MAG – Microwave Application Group, University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy
Activity fields:
The activity of the Modena research group originated from the high temperature microwave treatment of ceramics and oxides to be employed in structural applications and glazing. Lately, different research programs were focused on finding new and potential microwave industrial applications in the field of drying, sintering, melting, thermal treatments and microwave plasma processing, applied both to natural materials, polymers, metals, glasses, ceramics and recently, food. This applied research has always been accompanied by basic research, inspired to the quest for a possible specific or non thermal effect. Thanks to these new inputs, MAG interest evolved towards the design of specific microwave systems and the optimisation of manufacturing cycles. Modeling and simulations have accompanied materials processing and synthesis, ranging from low to high temperature applications.
