Activity fields:

The Ceramics Research Group in the Department of Materials at Loughborough University has over 25 years of experience of microwave processing of ceramic materials.

Activities have included applying microwaves to the processes of drying, slip casting, 3D printing, sintering, joining, chemical vapour infiltration and powder synthesis amongst others and a very wide range of ceramic materials including glasses and nanostructured ceramics have been examined for electronic, structural, healthcare, magnetic and defence applications.

Fundamental underpinning science behind the interaction between microwaves and ceramic materials has also been undertaken.

Prof. Bala Vaidhyanathan and co-workers are always interested in talking to companies and research groups with respect to potential collaboration.
